What is Viral Marketing? In a nutshell, Viral Marketing is getting someone else to pass along your marketing message for you. This can result in many more visitors to your website, and so it means more sales or affiliate commissions for you.

What are the methods you can use to get your "viral" message out?

1. First, write articles. Newsletter publishers and website owners are constantly looking for content. They can turn these articles into reports and ebooks that they can use for their own viral marketing campaigns as well as using them "as is" on their site or in their ezines. If YOU use someone else's articles be sure to include their resource box as is, with no changes.

To get your articles seen by publishers and website owners, submit them to other publishers' ezines, article announcement lists and article directories (such as http://goarticles.com or http://ideamarketers.com). There are also services that will distribute your articles for a fee, such as isnare.com.

2. Have your own affiliate program. If you sell a product, having an affiliate program is a good way to get the word out. Instead of always advertising your product, send out ads for your affiliate program. Get others to sell your product for you for a reasonable commission.

3. Use a "send to a friend" script. This script is installed on your website so when visitors see something that interests them, they can click on a button or link that opens their email program and sends an email with the link to a friend.

These scripts can be found by entering "send to friend script" into a search browser. You will find many - some for free and others that you must pay for.

4. Give away ebooks and reports. Everyone is looking for that magic word - f.r.e.e. Write a quick 10 page report or an ebook to give away. Be sure you add your promotional message where it will be easily seen.

You can have more than one advertisement in a report or ebook but be careful not to overdo it. You want your Valuable content to be the focus - not the advertisements. Also, remember to put in a paragraph that states the ebook has "giveaway" rights.

There are other ways to get visitors to your website, such as directly advertising it, but viral marketing multiplies your effort. Let other people help get your message out - use viral marketing to your advantage.
